William Franklin Potter

Age 70, passed on August 5, 2024, at Hospice in Wilkinsburg, PA. William was born on January 16th, 1954, in Penn Hills, PA. He had Stage 4 Cancer of the Brain, Liver, and Lungs. He fought hard and lasted 11 months after he was given four to six months to live in 2023. He was delivered from this battle on August 5th when he gained his wings.


He had many hobbies, some of which included being a great cook, fisherman, streetcar racer, mechanic, card payer, skater, storyteller, prankster, Monopoly player, and handyman. William was affectionately known as "Bad Ass Billy Guns"


He was preceded in death by his parents Gloria D. and Charles H. Potter; siblings Francis Sharpley, Jeffery Potter, Jo Ann Potter and Charles Potter; nieces and nephews Chuck "a-Luck" Treece, Gerald "Teebird" Freeman, and Toni Baker-Taylor; and great-nieces - Temani Lewis and Kaari Thompson.

William leaves behind his loving girlfriend Dawn McCartney; adoring children Damica J. Edwards and Monika K. Potter; treasured stepchildren Dominic Edwards, Demetric Edwards, Monique Slade and Maurice Slade; cherished grandchildren Doryan Edwards, Larry Jones, Mikale Clark, Rymeir Clark, and Ryon Clark. He also leaves behind a host of family and friends. William will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
