William Keller Obituary

William L. “Billy” Keller, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2023 with his forever loving wife by his side.

‍William, known by friends and family as Billy, was born to Milton and Melissa (McKindley) Keller on May 19, 1940 in Pittsburgh. He was a fun-loving and mischievous kid growing up in Brookline and star athlete on the baseball field. A lover of books, history, the great outdoors, camping, boating, and fishing, Billy cherished a cold beer and a smooth cigar with the sunshine warm upon his face.  Billy was a Pipe Insulator by trade and retired as a proud union member of the Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 2.

Billy was a lifelong, diehard fan of Alabama football, the Steelers and the Pirates. He was a wonderful conversationalist who passed his love of nature to his children and was completely charmed and amused by his grandchildren. Billy was a legend in his community and a true pillar of his beloved Brookline neighborhood. He took great delight in decorating the family home for the holidays and treasured a sunny day under a blue sky, surrounded by his favorite roses and mandevilla.

From the moment he fell for her 50 years ago while she was singing Irish songs in the Korner Lounge, Billy loved his darling wife, and best friend, Madelyn “Maddy” with all his heart. He was a good man, adored husband, brother, father and grandfather who never stopped dreaming and never stopped trying to make life more meaningful for his family.  Billy made his family immensely proud to be Kellers. He truly lived life his way, and will be deeply missed far and wide.

Billy is survived by his wife Madelyn (Jordan) Keller and his three children Billy Keller and his wife Becky (Milesky) Keller, Katie (Meckler) Keller and her husband Jeff Still, and Brendan Keller and his wife Sharon MacMonagle. He is also survived by his two grandchildren Liadan and Lachlan Meckler, sister Judy Sweitzer and her husband Dave Sweitzer of Morgantown, WV, sister Jane Inrig of CT, sister-in-law Maureen Shannon and her husband Sam of Mt. Lebanon, and many nieces and nephews.  Billy was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Melissa, brothers Dave Keller, Donald Keller, Roger Keller, and sister Patricia DeBeauvoir.

Billy’s family will host a celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to his favorite charity, Boystown.  www.boystown.org Arrangements by Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc.
