Wendy Lynn Hankins, 53, passed Sunday morning, September 8th, 2024 in Bella Nursing Home, Uniontown, PA. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia, April 3rd, 1971 to Linda Reese & Melvin Ward & was adopted at a young age by the man she considered her father in every way, Earl Wayne Hankins.
A highly intelligent individual, she graduated from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, PA, class of 1989. After high school, she took on many office positions, and was an international operator at AT&T in the early 90s. Later in life, after her children were grown, she worked hard to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Psychology at Southern New Hampshire University, making the Dean’s list many times. She was pursuing her Masters with the hopes of using it to help troubled youth.
She had many hobbies and interests that she shared with us all. She was an avid reader with a large library of fantasy & horror novels, including Steven King & Tolkein. She crocheted daily, making gifts for her family, especially the children. Every one of us has received something handmade with love and attention to our interests. She loved cooking large meals for her family & friends and baking cookies. She enjoyed a wide range of music, from classical to rock, and played many instruments including the saxophone, clarinet, and piano.
She did not take the traditional route through life, she forged her own path proudly and was a safe space to anyone that needed her. She was always there in our darkest moments to get us through.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Wayne Hankins, her grandparents, William Guy & Hazel Idalene Reese (Davy) and Earl & Myrtle Marie Hankins (LeMasters).
She is survived by a large family:
