Virginia "Ginny" Opferman Obituary

There are some people whose love becomes the foundation of a family. Virginia “Ginny” Marie Opferman was one of those people.

Ginny passed away suddenly at her home on June 23, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born on September 14, 1953, in Overbrook, the community she proudly called home throughout her life.

She had a heart that loved without limits. Ginny was compassionate, generous, and always ready to care for the people around her. She was also wonderfully spirited, never afraid to speak her mind, stand her ground, or make everyone laugh with her wit. Her strength and kindness made her unforgettable.

Some of life’s simplest moments brought her the greatest joy. She loved cooking for the people she cared about, gathering everyone around the table, and making sure no one ever left hungry. She could often be found tending to her home garden and watching her favorite tv shows enjoying a quiet evening at home. Though, nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family. They were her greatest accomplishment, her greatest source of pride, and the center of her world.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rosemarie Opferman(Brajdic)

She is survived by her devoted companion of more than 40 years, Norman Winowich; her beloved daughters, Beth and Allison; her cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Blaize, and Ella; her siblings, Roseann, Catherine, Thomas and Michael; and nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

The loss of Ginny leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but her love will never leave us. We will remember her every time we gather around the dinner table, every time we tell one of her stories, and every time we find ourselves laughing at a memory she helped create. Her life was the most beautiful reminder that love is measured not by grand gestures, but by the countless little ways we show up for one another every day.

In keeping with Ginny’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A memorial gathering and luncheon will be held at a later determined date, where family and friends will come together to celebrate her life, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman she was.

“To the world, she may have been one person. To her family, she was our world.”
