Victoria (Delis) Gandelsman, age 97, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Lviv, Ukraine, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2021. Mother of Stanislav Boyko and Victoria Kaminsky, grandmother of Igor (Alexandra Susloparova) Boyko, Tanya (Mark) Bernstein and Vladimir Kaminsky, great grandmother of Katherine Boyko, Sophie Kaminsky, Rachel, Benjamin, and Arielle Bernstein. In 1942 at the age of 18, Victoria Gandelsman volunteered to join the Soviet Army as a nurse at the field hospital of the tank brigade fighting Nazi Germany in the Second World War. With this brigade she took part in the Stalingrad battle, the Kursk battle, the liberation of Budapest, Hungary and Vienna, Austria. For her service, Victoria was awarded multiple military medals. For many years after the war Victoria worked as an administrator for a transportation company in Ukraine. In 2000, she joined her daughter’s family in Pittsburgh, PA. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, kindness, pragmatism, and passion for life. She never sat still and was an accomplished gardener who always looked for opportunities to beautify the world around her. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, at 1 pm at the Homewood cemetery. Arrangements by Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc.
