Susan Ellen (Wichterman) Brown

Susan Brown passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 while resting comfortably in the Family Hospice at Canterbury Place in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville Neighborhood. She is survived by her husband Doug Brown, her son Joshua Brown, her daughter Julia Brown, her mother Mabel Wichterman, and her brother Jeffery Wichterman.  Susan was born in Pittsburgh on March 28, 1965 to Ralph and Mabel Wichterman and grew up in Library, PA in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. She attended South Park High School (Class of ’83) and the University of Pittsburgh (BA, English, Class of ’87 and ME, Counseling, Class of ’92).  Susan and Doug were married in 1992.  She worked as a mental health counselor for Allegheny County and for the Mid-Fairfield AIDS project.  She also served on the board of Care-Net Rhode Island and volunteered with Care-Net New Hampshire.  She followed her love of photography and became a professional event photographer.  When her children were in high school, she worked briefly as a para-educator with the Inter-Lakes School District.  Susan was also a devoted leader and participant in women’s Christian ministries with her local congregations throughout her life. 

A Memorial Service shall be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 am in Crossroads Ministries, 81 Walter Long Road, Finleyville, PA  15332, 724-348-1620
