Stanley E. Podvorec III

Stanley E. Podvorec, III      Age 72 of Pittsburgh, passed away on June 18, 2025.  He was the beloved son of the late Stanley E. and Josephine A. (Rusiski) Podvorec, Jr.; brother of Florence M. (late Stanley L.) Smallwood, Joseph D. (Susan) Podvorec and the late Robert L. Podvorec; proud uncle of Colton (Amanda) Podvorec, Trenton Podvorec, Michael Podvorec and Kirsten Podvorec; great-uncle of Bennett and Raegan; also survived by many cousins and friends. Stan was considered family by lifelong friends Randy and Kim Stebler and their 3 children, Colton, Dakota and Raina.

Stan was a wiz at trivia, history and math.  He became a sports fan during childhood when he would join his grandfather listening to Pirate games on the radio.  Throughout his adult years, football became his favorite, with Sundays becoming his “Please do not disturb” day.  He enjoyed playing fantasy football and was a longtime Steelers season ticket holder.  One of his football highlights was attending Super Bowl XIV in Pasadena’s Rose Bowl and watching as the Steelers won their fourth Super Bowl ring by beating the L.A. Rams.

For over 50 years, Stan continued to work for Duquesne Light and when asked why he was still working instead of retiring, he would reply “I work because I like my job “.  He had just started planning for retirement at the time of his death.

As Stanley requested, there is no visitation. Services will be private.
