Richard A. ‘Dick’ Nier
March 19, 1938 – Feb. 13, 2026
Richard A. “Dick” Nier, 87, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday with family by his side in Pittsburgh. Dick was born in Lakemont, to Carl and Blanch Nier.
He excelled at his job as a brick, block and stone mason. As a skilled craftsman, he enjoyed cooking and working with his hands. His immense passion for the outdoors gave him great joy and no matter the season, he could be found hunting, fishing and trapping. Spending time on the mountain, by the streams is where he often felt the most at peace.
Friends will remember his sense of humor and storytelling as well as the playful tricks he became known for throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Blanch Nier; siblings: Charolette, Janet and John; a daughter, Sherri Divley; a son, Richard Nier Jr.; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Divley.
Surviving are his children, Carl Nier (Cathy) and Lori Hoover (Ken); grandchildren: Jessica McGregor (Dan), Kamie Stahl (Nick), Tanner Hoover, Amber Nier and Dylan Nier; and his great-grandchildren.
A private gathering will be held for family and friends at a later date.
