Richard Michael Moraski passed away on May 7, 2025, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on April 10, 1961, in Erie, PA to Walter and Harriet (nee Krainski) Moraski.
Always known as the baby of the family, Rick was the youngest of 7 children. He grew up in Waterford, PA and was a member of the 1979 class at Ft LeBoeuf High School. In 1981, he rode his motorcycle cross-country to move to Seattle, initially living with his brother Dennis, sister-in-law Marikae, and their family in Bellevue, WA. He settled in Maple Valley, WA where his sons Walter and Martin were born. Rick worked for tile and natural stone distributors. In 2019 he returned to his roots, moving back to PA.
Rick was passionate about sports, closely following his favorite teams: Pittsburgh Steelers, LA Dodgers, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He participated in family fantasy sports leagues and enjoyed Guys Weekends visiting major league parks around the country. In his last years, he often spent Sunday afternoons at PNC Park attending a Pirates game or at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. Going to the track to watch “the ponies”, jet skiing and snowmobiling were other favorite activities. Upon returning to PA, one of his cherished pastimes was deer hunting with family members. Rick was competitive and was always up for a game, especially pinochle, a favorite family tradition.
Rick loved his large family, who will miss his hearty laugh, culinary skills, and sense of adventure. He valued family gatherings and kept up the tradition his father taught him of a Chicken BBQ on an open fire pit. Rick is survived by beloved sons Walter and Martin; brothers Tom (Sandy), Dennis (Marikae) and Gerry (Nancy); sisters Darlene Whitted, Joan (Bob) Dunlap, and Suzanne Daniel; nephews Mark (Debbie), Peter, Mike (Kara), Paul (Audrey), Trent (Jaime), and Trevor; nieces Michelle (Rick) Fox, Sherry (Mike) Dean, Chrissy (Rick) DeWitt, Susan (Brian) Lampe, Jennifer (Jon Clark), Ellen (Mike) Larson, Liza (Brad) Hollingsworth, Elizabeth (Mike) Nizinski, and Stephanie (Matt Jaworski) as well as numerous cousins, great-nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Harriet Moraski, brother-in-law Ron Whitted and nephew David Moraski.
At his request, no service will be held, but please consider honoring his love of museums by donating to the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh or MoPop in Seattle.
