Regis John Flaherty

Regis J. “Rege” or “RJ” Flaherty, 60, passed away on October 8, 2024, in Carnegie, PA. Born on February 12, 1964.  He lived in Mt. Lebanon until shortly after his graduation from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1982.  Following his service the US Army, he was a lifelong Pittsburgh area resident serving the Army Reserves.

Rege spent his early career at AT&T as an overseas operator from where he gathered many of his numerous, entertaining stories, which he shared as only he could.  Later he worked as a bartender, where his jokes and stories were as much a draw as the drinks he served.

An avid outdoorsman, Rege loved nothing more than to be fishing, a hobby that brought him great joy and peace. Earlier in his life he was a member of St. Winifred's church in Mt. Lebanon.

Rege is survived by his brothers, Bob (Cheryl) of Mechanicsburg, PA and James of Sturgeon, PA, as well as his niece Kara of Seattle, WA and nephew Ryan of Sturgeon, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Regis and Mildred Flaherty of Mt. Lebanon.

Rege's life was marked by his unwavering kindness and quick wit.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
