RALPH R. REILAND

College professor by day, Restaurateur by night, Newspaper

Columnist / Journalist in his spare time. Passed peacefully on

Monday, September 19, 2022. Loving husband of 59 years to

Sarah J. “Sally” McCarthy; beloved son of the late Ralph and

Virginia (Krasofsky) Reiland; cherished father of Michael

and James (Lisa) Reiland; adoring grandfather to Sarah

(Brandon Hanson) and Gracie. Ralph proudly operated

Amel’s Restaurant on McNeilly Road from 1968 until 2022.

He was a dedicated Professor of Economics at Robert Morris

University for 43 years from 1974 until his retirement in 2017.

All who knew Ralph shall truly miss his funny deeply

opinionated story telling. Per his request his burial was held

privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Research.
