Octavian "Tavi" Manole

Octavian Manole, lovingly known as “Tavi,” reposed peacefully in the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 87.

Together with his beloved wife of 62 years, Ecaterina, he built a life centered around faith, love, and family. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Marcelina (Emil) and Mioara (Florin); a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren, Adelina (Raul), Patricia (Ciprian), Andrew, Andreea, Mihaela, and Gabriela; and a proud great-grandfather to Selena and Amira. 

After retiring as a civil engineer in Cluj, Romania, he came to the United States at the age of 60 to help care for his four grandchildren: Andrew, Andreea, Mihaela, and Gabriela. He found great joy in being surrounded by his family, especially the laughter, play, and simple presence of children. He will be remembered as a gentle, patient, and faithful man, whose steady presence and humble spirit reflected a life content with all that God had given him. 

A Funeral Service shall be held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkerson Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228, on Tuesday, April 21, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation and a time for tribute will be held in the church from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, 509 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Andrew Romanian Orthodox Church, McKees Rocks, PA; Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church – Guatemala Mission or the Iconography Project.
