Moses Otero Obituary

Moses Otero    On April 1st, 2023, a life was taken suddenly and way too soon. Moses Otero passed away early Saturday morning. A beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, and best friend to many, he had an infectious personality that would light up a room, Moses would give away the shirt off his back to help those in need, and he would make friends with even a stranger in a grocery store. He was the life of the party and loved to be around the people he loved. Born in Gary, Indiana, he moved to Pittsburgh to live with his best friend – or “twin” – Devaile “Hot Sauce” Price and make a life for himself, with only his puppy, Sandy, $300 and a dream. Although his life was cut short, Moses achieved all that he set out to do here – and more. He had a home with a family, including three children, and a career that he loved. He is survived by his wife Kailyn; his three children Tre’von, Taedyn, and Aidalyn; his grandmother Aida Otero; his grandfather Francisco Otero Sr.; his mother Martha Otero; his father Edgar Downs; his mother-in-law Laurean Kile; his brothers Matthew Irrizary, Francisco Avila, Bruno Avila, Evign Kile (Jenny Kile) and Eyan Kile; his sisters Clarita Mabon (Derrick Mabon) and Monataya Yancey. He also is survived by his uncles Eric Otero and Francisco Otero Jr.; his aunts Sonia Avila, Lolita Otero and Carmen Perez; and the many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him. Moses also was a loved and cherished member and a second son/brother to the Goodwin/Yancey and Price/Rochelle families. He also loved and cherished his work-family and the residents that he had the pleasure of taking care of and working with over the years. Believing that family isn’t just blood, Moses is survived by many of his best friends, including Albert “Manni, His Drinking Buddy” Manning, Milton “Nephew Syn” Darkried and many, many others. He will be forever missed and remembered for his many accomplishments in his 34 years of life. Friends and family shall be received on Good Friday, April 7, 2023 from 2pm until the 5pm service at Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc., 600 Dunster St., Pittsburgh, PA 15226. A Celebration of LIFE gathering to follow in the Kollar Club, 3226 Jane Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203
