Larry Dobbins was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend whose presence brought strength, laughter, and kindness to those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Margaret “Peg” Dobbins; his beloved daughter, Krista May Lynn Dobbins; and his aunt and uncle, Virginia “Ginnie” and Robert “Dick” Kronk.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Katie Jo Dobbins, who stood by his side through life’s journey. Larry was a proud and loving father to Savanna Dobbins, Ashley Taylor, Cheyenne Reidy, Skyler Dobbins, and Brad Taylor, and shared a special bond with Anita Taylor, mother of Brad, Ashley, and Savanna. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Anderson (Todd) and Leslie Bove (Lou), along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family who will carry his memory forward. Larry also held a special place in his heart for his dear friends, Linda and Pat Foley.
Larry had a deep passion for life on the open road as an over-the-road truck driver, a career that reflected his independence and love for adventure. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a proud member of the New Galilee VFW Post 8106, where he spent time playing darts and enjoying the company of friends. At home, Larry found joy in the simple moments—playing video games with his wife and son, watching wrestling, and cheering on his favorite team as a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Known for his generous heart, Larry was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his final act of selflessness, he became a hero through organ donation, giving the gift of life to others and leaving behind a legacy of compassion and hope.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU team at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and the CORE program for their care and support, as well as to everyone who has offered love, prayers, and contributions during this time.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
