Julianne Maher, recent resident of Friendship Village of South Hills and a long-term resident of Mount Lebanon, PA, on November 29, 2025. She is survived by her children, Martin Schmidt of Burlington, NC, and Susan Schmidt of Wheeling, West Virginia, brothers Tom of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Buck of New Orleans. Her love of language and continuing education started with the graduation at Wellesley College with a BA, continuing to Middlebury College with a Masters, and concluding at New York University with PhD in Linguistics. She held administration positions at Manhattanville College, Marist College, Loyola University, Elon College, Wheeling Jesuit University, Muskingum College, concluding with the publication of her book, The Survival of People and Languages. She will be missed by all who knew her. Services private per her request. Arrangements entrusted to Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc.
