Joshua Patrick Staab, 36, of Dormont, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Josh is survived by his beloved mother, Sherry; brothers Greg and Ryan (Becky); and sister Meghan (Adam). He was preceded in death by his father, Michael; grandparents Ralph and Helen; uncles Ralph and Gary; and aunt Susan. Josh will be deeply missed by an abundance of friends and family whose lives were brighter for knowing him.
Born and raised in Dormont, Josh proudly called it home his entire life. A graduate of Keystone Oaks, he went on to further his education in masonry, laying the foundation, quite literally, for a career in construction. With a deep sense of pride in his work and a willingness to learn, Josh expanded his skills across many areas of the trade, quickly becoming a valued and respected member of every crew he worked with.
From an early age, Josh shared a love of sports with his siblings. He could often be found playing softball, deck hockey, pickup football, or the beloved family tradition of cornhole. That passion extended to his hometown teams: the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates, and Josh wore his identity as a proud “Yinzer” with enthusiasm.
Even more abundant than his love of sports and community was Josh’s love for his friends and family. He enjoyed hyping his friends up on karaoke nights and took great pride in the accomplishments of those closest to him. A social member of his local VFW, Josh was cherished by many and especially loved participating in the dart league. Above all, he took great pride and treasured time with his family, from holidays at Uncle Bubba’s to simply being there when they needed him most.
Those who knew Josh describe him as goofy, funny, ironically quiet, and above all caring. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, all while laughing that their shirt was ruined. Though a man of few words, Josh was often the life of the party, his smile too bright for one room and his unmistakable “Oiy!” announcing his presence before he was ever seen.
Josh’s passing leaves a void in the community and especially within his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Dormont VFW on Saturday January 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM. All are welcome to join in remembering and honoring Josh.
