Joseph Anthony Obuchowski

Joseph Anthony Obuchowski, age 84, of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 14, 1942, in Ambridge PA, Joseph lived a full life centered on his family, a strong interest in music and creative expression, and a love for travel throughout the United States and Europe.

In his early life, Joseph pursued his love of music by attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts. He later studied at Penn State University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English. He remained creative throughout his life, expressing himself through music, whittling, and building relaxing water features in his backyard. He was also a life-long player of tennis and continued to play through his 70’s at the Mt Lebanon tennis center.

Joseph built a steady career in public relations, beginning his professional path with Mellon Bank. Fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, he later established and ran his own company, Business Newsletters Syndicate, until his retirement.

With his wife of more than 60 years, Annette (Macurak) Obuchowski, they traveled extensively. Together, they visited the Caribbean over 60 times, backpacked through Europe, enjoyed several month-long trips in Paris, and enjoyed RV adventures around the United States. Their travels also kept them closely connected to their children, leading to many trips to visit Christopher in Portland, Jodi in San Francisco and Chicago and Jeffrey on Atlanta Drive in Mt. Lebanon.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Annette, and their three children:

His son Jeffrey Obuchowski and his wife Darlene, and their son, AJ.

His son Christopher Obuchowski and his wife Gloria, and their children, Madeline, Tabitha, and Edward.

His daughter Jodi Brown and her husband Christopher, and their sons, Nolan and Declan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Margaret Maxine and his sister Mariann.

His sense of humor, charm, quiet creativity, and presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
