Jonathan Tracy Sr. Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jonathan King Tracy Senior, who left this world on October 5, 2025, at The Grove at Irwin Hospice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after a courageous battle with hepatic encephalopathy. Born on December 2, 1952, in Billings, Montana, Jonathan lived a life filled with compassion, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Jonathan (known widely as Jon) was the beloved son of James Whittemore Tracy and Ann deWitt Martin, and he was preceded in death by his cherished son, Matthew Scott Tracy. The loss of Matthew weighed heavily on Jonathan, but he continued to find strength in his family and friends. He is survived by his loving son, Jonathan King Tracy Jr. (Elizabeth), who resides in Indiana, his four grandchildren Jeremy, Justin, Jenna and Jessica along with his devoted siblings: Jay Tracy of South Carolina, Beth Leonard of South Carolina and Dee Toll (Phil) of Virginia. Together, they carry the legacy of his kindness and generosity, traits that defined Jonathan throughout his life.

Jon was distinguished by his memorable sense of humor, his warm heart, and his willingness to serve anyone in need.  His gentle spirit and loving nature touched the lives of countless individuals, making a lasting impact in his community and beyond. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering a helping hand, or simply sharing a smile, Jon embodied the essence of what it means to be a true friend and neighbor. He approached every day with a sense of purpose and a desire to uplift others, embodying a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

Jon was raised in Connecticut where he discovered a love of sailing and enjoyed the freedom to explore and befriend everyone he met. He joined the Westport CT Gaelic- American Club and loved playing drums with their marching band on St. Patrick’s Day.  Jon also coached in the local Pop Warner Youth Football League. Once a dad, he cherished seeing his sons in sports and scouts and pursuing family adventures in New Hampshire.

Jonathan's funeral service will be held privately, in accordance with his wishes. As we remember him, we invite all who knew and loved Jon to carry forward his spirit of kindness and service, honoring his memory through our actions and our love for one another.

As we bid farewell to Jonathan King Tracy Senior, let us celebrate the profound impact he made in our lives. May his soul find peace, and may we always remember to live with the love and compassion that he so generously shared with the world.
