John Young Rafferty III

John Young Rafferty III, of Crafton, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep at home on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 63.

Born on October 25, 1961, John was the beloved son of the late Judy (Robertson) Rafferty and Richard “Dick” Rafferty, Sr. He is survived by his siblings, Richard Rafferty, Jr. (Amy) and Dianna Rafferty; his nieces, Rachel Enzwiler (Alex) and Shana Rafferty; his nephews, Rich Rafferty (Alexa) and Luke Rafferty; and his great-niece, Elaina Enzwiler. John was a devoted uncle, brother, and friend, whose quiet strength and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and practiced for several years before transitioning to a long and successful career at UPMC. With expertise in spinal health and anatomy, he joined the radiology department, where he served with dedication for 26 years. He ultimately became Transcription Supervisor, a role in which he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and staff.

John had a warm, humble presence, a sharp intellect, and a dry wit that left a lasting impression. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—family and friends, meaningful conversations, time with his dog, and the comfort of home.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at The Rose Barn in North Park 10300 Pearce Mill Rd Allison Park, PA 15101. All are welcome to attend. A brief memorial will begin at 3:00 p.m., during which friends and family are invited to share memories of John. Summer casual attire, such as shorts and t-shirts is encouraged. 

John will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.
