JEROME L. NIEDERMEIER Beloved husband of Marilyn, died May 7 with his wife at his side. He was the son of the late Joseph and Ludmilla Niedermeier and brother of the late Joseph (Anncarol) Niedermeier. He received his B.A. from Pitt and his Master's and Ph.D. from Duquesne, where he taught for more than 40 years. Jerry was a man of high intelligence and deep emotion who dedicated his life to teaching his students not what to think, but how to analyze language and, thus, think for themselves. He did this with the same humor, passion and self-discipline he exhibited in all aspects of his life. He enjoyed many interests beyond his professional fields including classical music, old movies and building model aircraft, particularly WWII-era planes. He leaves behind a grieving wife and a dog that he loved for reasons no one can fathom. Because of covid concerns, there will be no service. Arrangements through BALL FUNERAL CHAPEL, INC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kindred Hospice https://kindredhospice.com/.
