Obituary

Jeanne M (Mallon) Keenan, 87, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born in Pittsburgh on March 24, 1936 to Edward F Mallon and Julia M (Madigan) Mallon. She married the late John (Jack) C Keenan in 1960 and together raised 3 daughters. Jeanne graduated in the top of her class from St John the Baptist High School in Lawrenceville in 1954 where she excelled in academics and learned secretarial skills. She used these secretarial skills as a stepping stone, to become the first female manager at Rockwell International. Early in their marriage, as Jack was in the Air Force, Jeanne moved from base to base, one base being in Crete, an island off the coast of Greece, where she managed to travel by herself with a 2 year old and a 6 week old to meet Jack and live for a few years. She loved living there and was able to pick up the language, work as a secretary for the Air Force base Commanding Officer and make many friends.

When Jack left the Air Force while in California, they brought the family back east and settled in Swissvale for a short time where Tara was born, and then moved to Mt Lebanon. Jeanne loved her daughters and along with Jack was the ultimate high school band parent for 10 years. She was an avid gardener and loved her rose bushes. She and Jack taught their girls to be strong, independent, honest and kind women.  She was very proud of her Irish heritage and was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians where again she used her skills to organize and manage many fundraisers.

Jeanne adored her grandchildren. In the summers, she always had them on some crazy adventure, from the Aviary to Phipps, to Moraine State Park, to a simple pizza party and many sleep overs at her house, she bonded with her grandkids and followed them through all of their activities.

Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Dawn M Clark, Mary K (Katie) Martinchich (Paul), Tara M Fox (Ned), her grandchildren, Natalie Martinchich, Jack Clark, Erin Fox and Kathryn Fox. Her Sisters, Eileen Och, Roseanne Heyl, Elizabeth Hoinkes and a brother Edward F Mallon Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Jule Catherine Mallon, Mary Therese Colner, and brother Dan Mallon. Services to be announced later.
