On Friday. June 7, 2024, Jim Kilburg was dragged from this Earth screaming, kicking, punching, biting, and scratching after a protracted knockdown, drag out battle against a much smaller but much stronger foe, cancer. Jim is survived by his loving and wonderful wife Beverly. She was the best wife and lifemate a guy could be blessed to have. Jim met Bev on a warm late-spring evening in June 1966 the night she graduated from high school. He asked her to dance and she actually said yes. Holy cow! That was the night he fell in love. Jim and Bev married on April 25, 1970 and Jim remained deeply in love with her for the next 54 years. Jim is also survived by his sons Jake of Pittsburgh and Chris (Lauren) of Monroeville, and Chris and Lauren's five children, Derya, Grace, Calvin, Arlo, and Teddy Jim adored his grandchildren and relished every minute he spent with them Jake and Chris grew up to be two of the finest men Jim has ever known. They both followed their dreams, which made both Jim and Bev especially proud.
Jim was preceded in death by his father William (Ginzel), mother Frances (Pooch), brother William, and sister Jane.
Jim is also survived by his brother Dick (Joy) of Towson, Maryland and his sister Amy Majetic (Dennis) of Pittsburgh. For a variety of reasons, including spending many happy hours golfing with Dick and eating Amy's chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin roll and other yummy desserts, plus spending time with them, Jim could not have been blessed with better siblings and he was very sad that his sister Jane (Charlie) preceded him in death because she was a true gem as are Dick and Amy Jim is also survived by five nieces. Cassie, Katie, Molly, Jenny, and Becky, and three nephews, Ben, Bill and David, who are all dynamic, wonderful people.
Jim had a great run at life and left a reluctantly but with no regrets in the end. Bev provided great support, as did Jim's cancer team at the Hillman Cancer Center. He would like to give a special shout out to his cancer team, Dr. Gorantia, Hannah, Emma, and Maddie Four highly dedicated professionals who did their best to keep Jim going for as long as possible. Thank you, team Yinz guys are the best!
There will be no viewing and Jim's remains will be cremated. Jim's family may hold a celebration of his life, as they see fit. That's it folks If you want to do something in Jim's memory, please make a donation to the Hillman Cancer Center. Arrangements entrusted to Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc.
