James E. Kelly
July 15,1944 – June 1, 2025
James E. Kelly (Jim), 80, of Brookline, peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Gretchen (Stage). Survived by daughters Holly Jena (Greg) and Dana Grant (Robert). Proud Pappy to Jeremy Markowitz, Edward Bryan, Jr. (Kelly), Dan Jena (Amanda), Matt Jena, Katie, Brendan & Will Grant and four great-grandchildren.
Jim worked for 34 years as a brakeman and conductor for CSX. He loved classic rock, Western movies, visiting casinos and summers at Canadohta Lake – and he could fix just about anything. Although on the quiet side, he always had a joke to tell and was known for his great sense of humor and love for his family.
Jim’s family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Halcyon Senior Living in Bridgeville for their care, support and friendship during the last two years. And thanks to the staff at Advanced Hospice for its compassionate care over the past two months.
Arrangements are being handled by Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc. and are private, per his request and he will be laid to rest in Hollywood Memorial Cemetery.
Jim had minimal life insurance. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to “Support for Jim Kelly’s medical and funeral costs” on Go Fund Me, to help offset outstanding medical expenses and funeral costs.
