Hilary V. “Dutch” Neubert, 71, of Cochranton, Pennsylvania, formerly of Butler, passed away on June 7, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1954, in Ridgway, PA, to the late Robert and Jane Neubert.
Dutch proudly served in the United States Navy from March 1972 until his honorable discharge in October 1988. He was the head cook aboard every submarine he served on and was also a skilled baker. Throughout his naval career, he earned multiple medals and accommodations—including the Navy Expeditionary Medal—and was honored several times as both Sailor of the Month and Sailor of the Year. His favorite post was aboard the USS Billfish.
On August 19, 1995, Dutch married the love of his life, Susanna M. Partozoti (formerly of Butler). He is survived by Susanna; his cherished daughter Heather M. (Moreau) Lewis and her husband Jason; and his beloved grandchildren Tyler, Robbie, and Dillon. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Liz, and is lovingly remembered by her sons, Dante and Jackson.
He is also survived by his brother David Neubert and his children of Palmyra; his sister Teresa Yaroschak and her husband John of Butler; and his sister Marilyn McNany and her husband Pat and their children of Franklin. Dutch is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Dutch’s heart belonged to his family—especially his “grandboys”—and to his lifelong friend of over 60 years, Robin Bacher, with whom he enjoyed playing and watching golf or sitting around joking and talking. A devoted baseball fanatic, Dutch also had a deep love of music, boasting an extensive collection of records and CDs, which he played loud and proud daily.
He was known for his sharp and sometimes drastic sense of humor, his unmatched baking (especially breads and pastries), and his famous homemade pierogies. He was also a passionate reader, with a special fondness for mysteries.
Dutch’s warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
