Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandmother, and Beloved Friend Gretchen Buehler passed away peacefully at Kane Glen Hazel Skilled Nursing Facility on November 4th, 2024 at the age of 58.
Gretchen was born in Bethel Park on March 21st, 1966 and was adopted by Francis Joan Buehler-Dubich and Paul Buehler (who both unfortunately have passed on). She was adopted alongside her brother Craig Buehler. Gretchen went to St Francis Academy from elementary until high school, participating in cheerleading and the Catholic Church. After graduating there, she attended the American Legion Airways academy and obtained a license as a flight attendant. She moved down to Virginia in the late 80’s, meeting her Husband Carl Douglas Humphreys II. They went on to have three beautiful children, Cameron, Hunter, and Paige. Gretchen was an amazing mother, taking a lot of time away from working to raise her children. In 2020 she was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease. Her late husband Carl was her main caretaker until his passing last August, and then she was placed in a wonderful skilled nursing facility until her peaceful passing.
Gretchen truly was the light and joy of every room she entered. She never failed to be able to put a smile on someone’s face, no matter the situation. She had many lifelong friends and was the best mother any of us could have ever asked for. We are still in shock having to lose such a sweet soul so soon due to such a terrible disease.
Gretchen is survived by her three children Cameron (28), Hunter (26), and Paige (25), her older brother Craig (55), and her two beautiful grandbabies Cyrus (5) and Ozlow (2).
Friends and family shall gather to celebrate her life on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 4pm-8pm at Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc., 600 Dunst St., Pittsburgh, PA 15226
A Mass of Christian Burial shall be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, November 9, 2024 in St. Teresa of Avila Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 1000 Avila Ct., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. EVERYONE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow in Christ our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
