Georgia Cook Obituary

Georgia Cook of Brookline, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Georgia was the beloved daughter of the late Emma and George Ratica. She was also preceded in death by two of her cherished children, Don Cook (survived by his wife Susan) and Linda Cook, as well as her brother Ted Ratica (survived by his wife Linda). She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Lisa Marie Cook; her sister, Beth Ann Ratica; her brother Greg Ratica (Loretta); and many dear nieces and nephews: Jean (Tony), Kyle (Meredith), and Kennedy Rose (the late Dillon) McCullough, Greg Ratica and his daughter Kaitlyn, Jeff (Adrianna) and their daughters Emma and Ella, and Adam (Michelle) Ratica and their daughter Sarah. Georgia also leaves behind many extended family members and treasured friends who will deeply mourn her passing.

As a young woman, Georgia graduated from Robert Morris School of Business and worked in various secretarial positions before dedicating herself to raising her family. Later, she returned to the workforce while continuing to care for her children with tireless devotion.

From an early age, Georgia had a deep spiritual interest. As a girl, she would quietly listen in on her mother’s Bible studies. Although her mother never became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Georgia was drawn to Bible truth. Along with her sisters, she would read scriptures posted in the window of the Kingdom Hall in Aliquippa. That early curiosity was rekindled when a Witness visited her door, leading to her personal Bible study and her baptism on March 6, 1966—59 years ago.

Georgia was a loving and supportive mother who instilled spiritual values in all her children. Her training helped them develop strength and resilience, including moments where they all have faced difficult medical challenges with faith and courage.

Her generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. Georgia was known for her caring nature and helped many others in her life. Even in declining health, she found the strength to serve as an auxiliary pioneer in September and October of 2024, a testament to her deep faith and dedication to Jehovah.

Those who knew Georgia will fondly remember her love for the Outer Banks and her enjoyment of shopping trips. Many have shared warm memories of time spent with the Cook family on those cherished vacations. She also found joy in simple pleasures—watching classic films and solving crossword puzzles, at which she was especially skilled.

Georgia’s warm smile, kind spirit, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
