Francis "Frank" Harry Smiechowski, 75, of Kennedy Twp., passed peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh in the company of family.
Born June 30, 1950 in Pittsburgh to the late Francis and Nellie (Drwinga) Smiechowski. Frank did not have any siblings but grew up in the company of several cousins. During his time at college he met his future wife Barbara while camping. They eventually settled in Ohio and raised their children, working as a manager for Darden restaurants. Frank eventually returned to the Pittsburgh area to take help care of his uncle, following the passing of his wife. Briefly he worked as "Captain Frank" of the seafood department in several area Giant Eagles/Market Districts.
Throughout his life, Frank was known for his enjoyment of good company, engaging both friends and visitors in conversation. He also believed in helping others to the best of his ability at all times, whether it was offering some sage advice or working with someone to get their car running again. These two aspects defined him and helped him build a like-minded community wherever he went.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Barbara. His survivors include: two sons Matthew and his wife Jenn, Michael and his wife Kelly, and his daughter Christina; along with his 6 grandchildren: Anthony, Xavier, Logan, Skyler, Ethan and Lorelei. He was a treasured cousin, and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
In keeping with Frank’s wishes and his spirit of giving, his body was donated to help others and advance medical science. A Memorial Mass will be held.
