Edward J. Obuchowsky
December 27, 1923 - July 7, 2025
Beloved husband of the late Gertrude (Szkola) Obuchowsky; treasured son of the late Edward and Helen (Stebelsky) Obuchowsky; cherished brother of the late Gus (Helen); adoring uncle to 51 nieces and nephews.
Edward became a policeman for the Pittsburgh Board of Education in 1949 where he worked far 35 years. He served in the Army during World War II on Christmas Island, Marshall Island and other areas throughout Japan. He retired as a 5 stripe Tech Sergeant. Ed was a devout Catholic and served as an Altar Boy and Usher. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the fish fry, Catholic War Vets Commander, VFW, American Legion and many other service organizations.
Ed was always proud of being a Senior Trustee on the board of The Slovak Bank. He belonged to the Garfield Club and was an avid golfer and bowler. Ed served as Master of Ceremonies at their "golfer of the year' parties.
Ed and Gert built their home at the edge of Riverview Park in a wooded paradise he was always proud of. They had many parties where they played horse shoes and drank a barrel of beer. He was always ready with a quick comeback. His memory was uncanny. Ed truly was a remarkable, loving man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was the best Uncle to all of us, and a kind and loving friend. He loved the Lord.
