Edward Charles "Butch" Lang Age 86 of Brookline PGH. PA. on Fathers Day June 19, 2022 after a long illness passed away to a better place with his family by his side. Ed attended St Michaels grade school and high school on the South Side where he met his future wife Gail Bova in the 6th grade. After graduation he served in the US Army for two years where he would marry Gail on a military base at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina in September 1955. Ed would go on to work many careers in his lifetime, a truck driver, musician, fire arms instructor, CMU police officer and detective at Carnegie Mellon University where he would eventually retire. Upon retirement his favorite pastimes would be spent with family and friends relaxing in his backyard or riding his Harley which he rode all the way up until he turned 80 years old before giving up his beloved bike. He also enjoyed many hours of shooting pool and drinking a beer with his buddies at a local establishment. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Ed was preceded in death by his father and mother Edward and Margaret Lang, his brother William B Lang, and his son Joseph M Lang. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Gail Bova Lang, and four children: Diane and Kenneth Johns, Debbie Lang and Bill Alexander, Barbara and Gerry Sladic, Peter and Jill Lang. Ed was constantly surrounded by his large family which consisted of his five children, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Arrangements are handled by Ball Funeral Chapel, Inc. in Brookline. Burial will be private and there will be no viewing per Eds request. All donations may be made to Ed‘s favorite charity Saint Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
