It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Donna Lea Williams after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Donna is survived by her loving family: husband, Glenn; her son, Todd (Kate); daughter, Lee; and grandchildren, Sage and Maya. In addition, she is survived by sister-in-law, Jean Hellman; her niece and nephew Amy and Doug (Robin) and their son, William; her sister-in-law Patricia Brunner, as well as nephews Mark and Matthew. Donna was born March 29, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Virginia Wangeman; her brother, Buck, a top gun pilot who was killed during a test flight; and mother and father-in-law, Henry and Marie Williams. A life-long Mt. Lebanon resident, Donna attended Averett University and Robert Morris. She worked as an administrative assistant in the graduate school of the University of Pittsburgh’s Library and Information Sciences. She was promoted to the Mechanized Information Retrieval Department for 12 years, retiring after the birth of her children. Her average day was filled with activity. She loved her sports. Many people will remember her 4 mile daily strolls through the streets of Mt Lebanon. An excellent athlete, Donna was president of the Western PA Platform Tennis Association and the Mt. Lebanon Golf Association. She ran her class reunions and get togethers for over 20 years and was always involved with the PTA and activities for her children at Mt. Lebanon High School. Donna was an avid gardener. She had a large plot at Mt. Lebanon Golf Course and tended the garden at the Bower Hill Church, growing produce to feed many needy families through South Hills Interfaith Movement. Donna was a church deacon and volunteered with everything from cooking and cleaning to coordinating weddings. She organized church functions, served communion, and played in the hand bell choir. Donna also loved playing bridge, and her group was featured in the Wall Street Journal. She loved to paint, creating murals in restaurants and clients’ homes. She catered events with her friends and was an excellent organizer and entertainer. She also helped out at her friends decorating business. In addition to her many talents and attributes, the most endearing quality Donna will be remembered for was her kindness, friendship and loyalty to all of those who were privileged to know her. She befriended everyone she met. She will be so greatly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of Donna’s life will take place at Bower Hill Church on May 4, 2025 at 3:00pm.
