David Patrick Lydon
August 16, 1957 - November 26,2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Patrick Lydon, who left us on November 26, 2024, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 16, 1957, in North Braddock, PA, David was the son of the late John and Anne Lydon, the brother of the late John J. Lydon, and the cherished brother of the late Kathaleen Marshall and Darlene Hetrick (Kerry) of Forest Hills.
David’s heart was filled with love for his friends and extended family - many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his life, both past and present.
A lifelong animal lover, David adored his bulldogs, Gladys and Gracie, who brought him much joy and comfort. His love of animals was matched by his talent for photography, an art form he used to capture the world around him with a unique and thoughtful perspective.
An accomplished cyclist, David's proudest achievement was cycling "The Great Allegheny Passage" to Cumberland, MD; 3 days out, 3 days back to Pittsburgh.
David worked for many years at Shepherd Wellness Community, where his dedication to helping others left a lasting impact on those he served. Though he spent a number of years living in Florida, David always considered Pittsburgh his home and returned many years ago to be close to his family and friends.
The family asks that donations be made to Shepherd Wellness Community or an animal charity of your choice in David’s memory.
David’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
