Carol Gombos Obituary

Carol Lee Gombos of Baldwin Pa. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 82 years of age.

Carol was the beloved youngest daughter of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Betty). She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John, her sister Lois Mae and brother Kenneth, son-in-law Don Cook and grandson Eric.

She is survived by her 3 daughters Sharon (John) Proctor, Lori (Brett) Graham and Susan Cook. Also her grandchildren, Jennifer (Larry) Rice, Zachary Wright, Linda (Bryant) Eaton, Addam Graham, and David (Jane) Graham as well as great and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Tom, the last remaining of the Gombos brothers, many cousins, nieces, nephews and treasured friends who will miss her very much.

Carol was working as a bookkeeper when she and John met. But in a short time she became a full time homemaker and mom. She supported her husband in his gas station business any way he needed. Once her girls were older, she worked as a pharmacy tech at the Medicine Shoppe in Munhall and as a teller at Mellon Bank.

She loved having her family all together for special occasions, making their family favorites - she was a wonderful cook! But the first love of her heart was serving her God Jehovah as an active Witness for 62 years. She loved the Bible and even up to the end she could quote her favorite scriptures and encourage everyone who visited her. Her faith and integrity were outstanding. She initially met with her spiritual family at the Whitaker Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, then West Mifflin. After moving to Bradenton, Florida for a few years she was part of the congregation there. For the past 16 years Carol was a member of the West Carrick Congregation. No matter where she was she embraced her friends in the faith as family. Her easy-going demeanor made her easy to love. She loved music, dancing and going to the beach. She was a really fun person.

Much appreciation goes to the Community Life program of Homestead, Pa who helped Susan care for her for 15 years in her home. Also truly appreciated are the great caregivers at Canterbury Place nursing home and the hospice nurses who eased her final days. Contact the family directly for information on the memorial service.
