Carol J. Birr

Carolyn” Carol” Jean Birr, 71, left us peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at UPMC Family Hospice in Pittsburgh PA. Born in McKeesport, where she was also raised on August 8,1953 to the late Donald R. Birr Sr. and Violet (Elwell) Birr.

To know Carol was to love her. Her huge personality was surpassed only by her big heart. She loved her family and her friends dearly. She was always ready to lend a hand, never turning down a request to help, no matter how big or small the task.  Carol loved crafting, going to camp, bingo, bowling and the Steelers. She was a member of the White Oak American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 701, helping in the kitchen and proudly marching in the annual Memorial Day Parade

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Walter and Bobby Birr, stepmother; Barbara Birr, and long-time partner; Ted Dean. Carol is survived by her brother Don Birr Jr. wife Iris. sons Geremy and Adam. Don’s daughter, Pamela Birr sons, Ian and Asher Cristina. Nephew Christopher Birr wife Rachel, children Logan, Tyler, Synthia and Sophia. Sister-in-law Bev Birr (Bobby) daughter Angela Bernath, son Devin Bernath. Stepsisters Judy Veshinsky, Cathy St. Denny, and Virginia Marchetti. Cousin, Cliff Birr. And numerous cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will all greatly miss her. 

She will be remembered for her big smile and contagious laugh.
