A Celebration of Life

Beverly Ann Price (Spiker-Miller)

October 15, 1953 - May 29, 2025

Beverly Ann Price, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 29, 2025 after a brave and determined battle with cancer and heart disease.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Ruth Ann and William Spiker, and her husband, Jeffry Price.  She is survived by her children, Charles Miller (Jina) and Rachel Swalga (Jason) and granddaughters, Summer, Scarlett, Lana, and Navy Jane.   Additional survivors include stepsons Christopher, Brett, and Nathan Price, and Trey Easley.

Beverly was born in Wilmington, NC on October 15, 1953 into a military family; her father was a proud U.S. Marine.  She spent her teenage years in Woodbridge, VA where she attended Gar-Field High School.  Bev graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in education and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.  She returned to Northern Virginia to begin her career as a high school teacher.  While working full time and raising a family, she earned a Master’s degree in Adult and Secondary Education at George Mason University.

Later, Bev became an entrepreneur and small business owner, providing tutoring services to children and adults.   As her business expanded, she hired tutors across the country and primarily served U.S. military veterans in an array of subjects.

Beverly married Charles L. Miller and together they had two children, Charles and Rachel. Several years after her first marriage ended, Bev was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Jeff, and they settled down together in southwest Virginia.  After several years of rural living, Jeff and Bev moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to her daughter, Rachel, and her family.  She relished in her role as “MaMaw” and was able to spend quality time with her granddaughters whom she referred to as “my girls.”

Beverly enjoyed gardening, music (especially the Beatles and Motown hits), reading, visiting the beach, and having a good time with her many friends.  She was a devoted fan of the Redskins and she made fans of her children and grandchildren who will carry on the tradition of cheering for their favorite sports team.

Beverly was a volunteer for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and participated in the “Out of the Darkness - Overnight Walk” fundraisers.

If you wish to honor Bev’s memory, kindly consider a charitable donation to:
